Hello, and Welcome to Christian disABLED Australia. Let me start by saying what we believe:
All are welcome in God's family regardless of age, race, ethnicity, colour, gender, orientation and of course last but not least able bodied or disAbled. I put the capital A in disAbled because I believe "Disabled ARE Able'' as someone unknown to me who quoted once to me.
This is a new site starting on the weekend of 22nd August 2009 so please be patient for new additions to be added and it to be found on the web easy.
And why I quote that ALL are welcome is the words of John 3:16 ''For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that WHOSOEVER believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Those are the words of Jesus - it is Jesus who is inclusive of everthing and everyone. That includes disabled and healthy people alike, but Jesus came for those rejected by society. He said he didn't come for the healthy but the sick. And he was more concerned about their relationship with God than their physical and mental abilities. Even though he did heal many people in his time on earth, the book of Acts which is the story of the first Christian church there were people there who had been sick for many years and the day of Pentecost was only 40 days after Jesus return to heaven. In other words Jesus can't have healed everybody if there were people who had been diasabled for many years in the time of the early church, just after Jesus death and resurection. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU IF YOUR'E STILL SICK OR DISABLED. IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT! Jesus doesn't blame or condemn you!
We believe Jesus main role was to bring a broken world to God by dieing on the cross and being raised from the dead three days later.
Jesus did heal when on earth and still does today[we don't deny it] sometimes but not always miraculously heal today but we believe the GREATER JOY and HEALING is sometimes acceptance of illness, disease and eventually but sadly physical death. We are here for those grieving loss of a loved one or abilities because of illness or disability.
We are here about disAbility, healthy living and particually supporting those who have been through the maze of churches that promote total healing, painless life in this life and come out more hurt the other side.Like my other site www.theencourager.info/ , I aim to encourage and uplift people who are hurting from having been taught negative things about their disability and to show them that disABLED ARE ABLE!
Important news on The Encourager website mentioned just above. It is changing name and two MENTAL HEALTH sites are running until the new mental health website is finished at www.christiansformentalhealth.com It will be a new brighter looking, improved website still run by me but looking better, with an easier name to find on commonly used search sites like google as the title will explain what it is about. I hope to have more features on it and I will be able to ad new pages far more easily. Both mental health websites as well as this one for non mental disabilities are up and running now. Please be patient as I swap them over.I have other websites to run that are not health related and I don't get paid to do this, so I have to do my day to day tasks and this part time. Only for those who have money if you could donations are appreciated to cover costs of running this work. I advertise in as many ways to reach more for as little as possible to reach as many as possible. I will be putting Pay pal donations on these sites as they do have running fees and I am a disability pensioner myself getting a small pension from the government to live on out of which I pay for these ministries. I get no financial backing from and church, ministry or government. I pay for all of this out of my own pension. I am a volunteer.
OUR AIM!
My aim is to simply 'be there" for those who don't receive physical and mental healing in this life. I am here to support and offer whatever resources come this way to others and to use the links page to point people to other supports in more speciliased areas and to point you to others who may be able help you.I hope in touch to make myself available to churches, youth groups, bible studies etc for a short talk on disability both physical and mental as I personally have much experience in both areas and hope to help make your groups, churches etc more suitable to disabled people in your community, not only in how you use/design buildings but in who you invite to meetings, making them feel welcome. I now have business cards available free and have books I published with how to get the on the links page, now brochures and who knows what else? Let me know if I can help you. SOON! WATCH THIS WEBSITE ! On the online store page {newly added} I have included some books I have written for sale. It looks that I could be getting a special deal with a major Christian book store to sell their books on disability/health/mental health on line via the post at OR SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL COSTS. The author has another whole website just aimed at mental illness on his site at www.theencourager.info/ It is particually aimed at Chrisians but not exclusive of un- believers or other faiths just as this one is aimed to be.
What I do ask of you is your support in prayer and stories of faith despite disability from disabled people themselves as well as their families, carers, volunteers, nursing, medical and para medical staff. Stories for staff like why did you chose this vocation over others, how does your faith work in with your paid/volunteer work etc. Do you consider your work mission work helping sick/disabled people without forcing religion on them while getting paid a wage or as a volunteer? I am however unable to offer any counselling on any issue as this I believe this a specialised field out of my ability level. I am not proffessionaly trained, I am just someone who has "been there, done that" and still am struggling with some issues but am offering what I can mainly though the internet to help other people through this journey we call life.
